Les rivières pourpres | The Crimson Rivers

DIRECTOR: Mathieu Kassovitz | WRITERS: Jean-Christophe Grangé, Mathieu Kassovitz | CAST: Jean Reno, Vincent Cassel, Nadia Farès, Dominique Sanda, Karim Belkhadra, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Didier Flamand | France

A thoroughly stupid serial killer thriller with cliché piled on prefabricated everything — premise, plot, dialogue, villain(s), the two detectives’ quirks and idiosyncrasies, and there are even Nazis and evil scientists — that I found watchable for two reasons only: Jean Reno doing his taciturn tough guy shtik, again, but especially for Vincent Cassel. I like watching Vincent Cassel on film. Doing anything. Period.
